In Burma, protesters use ‘Team America’ version of Kim Jong-Il on their posters

When Burmese author Hein Latt published a biography of North Korea’s Kim Jong-Il a few months ago, it didn’t sell very well, for whatever reason. If the North Korean embassy in Rangoon hadn’t gotten involved, it might have disappeared into Burma’s version of the remainder bin. Instead, the bio is now at the center of a political shitstorm. At the request of their pals in North Korea, Burmese officials have pulped several hundred copies of Kim Jong Il: North Korea’s Dear Leader, citing inaccuracies in the text.
That, of course, sucks. Burma is a beautiful country filled with lovely people who are governed by superstitious, evil, self-serving monsters.
But there’s actually funny silver-lining in this storm-cloud of a news item. The above screenshot comes from the story as it ran on the Democratic Voice of Burma’s website. It includes a Reuters photo with the caption “Protestors burn posters of Kim Jong-il.” I can’t find the original Reuters image, so I don’t know if they failed to identify the image as a very well-known puppet.
Anyone remember Evil Bert’s appearance with Osama during a street protest in Bangladesh? Yeah, that really happened.
