No jail time for owner of Chinese restaurant where mouse jumped out of sauce bowl during health inspection

And here it is, your Chinese restaurant nightmare. Caught on camera, no less:

THIS soggy mouse was snapped scampering across a Chinese restaurant kitchen after clambering out of a pot of sweet and sour sauce.

Horrified health inspectors photographed the rodent after seeing it swimming in the dip just before it was set to be served up to customers.

The orange-coloured sauce can be seen dripping off the mouse as it makes its escape along a pipe.

Disgraced Ronald Lim was arrested — but yesterday escaped a jail term — after a string of “disgraceful” health hazards were discovered at his restaurants.

Shocked inspectors found COCKROACHES at another of Lim’s three West London eateries in swanky Bayswater.

And the pests’ eggs were discovered in dim sum portions and baskets of prawn crackers. Mice droppings were found all over kitchens — including in the fridges, crockery, soy sauce containers and on a chopping board next to meat.

Southwark Crown Court heard hygiene was so poor the ventilation canopy in one of the restaurants was “oozing with grease”.

Lim admitted 17 counts of breaching food hygiene regulations – and would have faced jail if the case had gone to trial, the judge said.

He was sentenced to eight months behind bars – suspended for two years – but amazingly he was not banned from running restaurants.

Judge Geoffrey Rivlin said: “Thankfully there is no evidence before me of actual illness being suffered by your customers.

Ronald Lim may still face jail time if he doesn’t clean up his restaurants by October. In the meantime, perhaps it’s time for Brits to cut down on the takeaways?
